Hire Colleen Gray for a Live Painting Experience

I live in beautiful Lanark County, close to Carleton Place, Perth, and Smiths Falls—and just under an hour from Ottawa. I'm available for live painting sessions at large gatherings and special events, offering your guests a unique experience as they watch a piece of art come to life right before their eyes.

During the event, I complete an original painting on-site. The finished artwork can be auctioned off or won through a benefit draw, making it a meaningful and memorable way to raise funds or support a charitable cause.

Guests are welcome to visit my art table throughout the evening to see the creative process unfold. For a set fee, I will complete the painting within the agreed timeframe. At the end of the event, the artwork is signed, framed, and certified—ready to go home with the lucky winner.

If the venue allows, a camera can be set up overhead so the painting process can be projected onto local screens, giving everyone a front-row seat to the art in progress.

Live painting creates a visual energy and lasting impact—perfect for galas, fundraisers, and community events.

The painting titled, "Midnight Dancing in the Garden of Eden" was created live at the Oct 2022 Gala for Société De Développement Communautaire De Prescott-Russell Community Development Corporation.

Cooperation Canada commissioned Colleen Gray to create a unique and powerful piece of artwork that would convey the strength of how a single person's actions can make an impact on the world. This work was created over a 3-day span at the National Art Centre.

It was painted onsite with ink on 24x36" synthetic paper, and was inspired by the impressive international gathering of brilliant minds and beautiful hearts who came together for the 2024 International Cooperation Futures.

The original artwork will be auctioned off by Cooperation Canada with proceeds benefiting Minwashin Lodge in Ottawa.

Income generated from the sale of these beautiful prints will help Art for Aid to put much needed program supplies into remote Indigenous schools in 2025.

Title: The Light
Story:  A woman connects to the universe through the fire she carries in her heart. She seeks the wisdom of the stars. Cassiopeia shines brightly from her dark sky blanket acknowledging her steering flame of hope. Beneath Cassiopeia, Perseus balances the feminine energy with his strength.

The woman is seated at the precarious edge of a rock shelf - a suggestion of how challenging it can be to light a path to positive change.

The absence of an obvious path to her place on the cliff edge might make one wonder how she came to be there; it is a question many women have asked themselves.

As she lifts her flame seeking a way forward, the world below her continues as it always has, regardless of where we find ourselves in it.

Artist's note: The constellations painted in this artwork are accurately placed in the north eastern sky as they appear in the month of October in Ottawa.
